Third Place Entry

"The Big Grump-Hump "

by Emily Christensen

Tell me a time of dailows and sparkets,
Of laughter and melody.
Tell me the days when things weren't so lightless,
When things were full of harmony.

"Well there was a time," began the wizmare
And it's not so far away.
If you catch a ride you could go there,
But, I don't think you'll find it today

"How will I know if I'm on the right ride?
How will I know if I'm going the right way?"
"Bubbling Jolingles will dance at your side
And things will feel different that day."

Before I set off, the Wizmare swarned
"Beware of the grump-Hump
For they don't like to feel warm
They'll push it aside and grahump and stabump."

So I set off and I slooked and learched
Underneath rocks and up in trees
But, this thing was nowhere to be perched
So I sat and put an elbow on a knee.

Up came the darkest and greyest creature
It's smile was hurt at both ends!
It stood before me with sad things to feature
And didn't seem like a friend.

"I'm a grump-Hump!" He dragbelled
"And I know what you are up to
You're here to stop my kind to excel
And I won't let you!"

"You sure look nice today," I said.
"Oh, don't try that on me!!
You can never make me glad
Now prepare to feel badly!"

"No, you do! I like your hair!"
"Liar! And you'll pay,
I'll stabump you to Mkfair
You'll regret the things you say!"

He lifted his foot and twound his toes
And got ready to come down with a blarm
"You sure do have a pretty nose,
It matches the wart on your arm."

Slowly his foot placed to the ground
His hand stroked his nose,
"I always thought it was an ugly mound
My friends said it hung like a hose!"

His mouth began to heal and lift
A warm feeling danced at my side
A compliment can be a nice gift
I had found my ride.

Tell me a time of dailows and sparkets,
Of laughter and melody.
Tell me the days when things weren't so lightless,
When things were full of harmony.
